Google setting up for DNC

Google plans to set up a "hang out" at 4th and Tryon Streets in uptown Charlotte during the DNC.

Spokeswoman Samantha Smith says the space will feature product demos, charging stations and programming for credentialed convention visitors.

Google is undertaking a similar effort in Tampa for the Republican National Convention.

Smith says Google also is the official live-stream and social network provider for both conventions. She declined to say how much the company is paying either convention for the distinction. Jim Morrill
